I just put Amsoil High Mileage, 0w20 in my 2012 Camry to see if it will benefit my engine with 221,000 on it. I switched from Mobil 1, which I used for years changing at 5K intervals, but had to keep topping off very often. The engine flush was excellent, the oil I drained only had 1500 miles on it and it came out looking like liquid coal! So a cleaning did take place, I'll see how it goes.

Pros: engine flush excellent
Cons: topping off very often
Mileage: 1500 km

Mobil Engine oil

There’s been a lot of advancements in oils since the YJ was new. I use Mobil 1 0w40 in mine due to its excellent temperature range and proven endurance.

Pros: excellent temperature range

Oil changes are cheap enough now that Mobil1 ESP 0w-30/5w-30 which is Approved by VW as 507 spec is around $28 per jug at Walmart. I'd change it more frequently and not chance it on the 2015 TDI engines in USA.

Pros: approved by VW
Cons: engine failures

I will say I've done my last 3 oil changes with penzoil platinum and my engine rode rougher and louder than it did before with the Toyota oem oil. So this past time I tried mobil 1 and it's way quieter and rives smoother.

Pros: quieter and rives smoother
Cons: rode rougher and louder

I'm running Amsoil 5w40 or Castrol Syntec 5w40. I ran Mobil1 10W30 a few times and I heard too much valve noise. When I opened the oil cap after driving around on the freeway it was smoking..which I'm not all that happy about. So I stopped using this oil.

Cons: too much valve noise, smoking
