I found a really good deal on M1 ESP 0w30, about half the price of the LM. ESP is a good choice for modern DI motors for it's low volatility base stock, less oil vapor in your intake and better for cats. ESP is as good as it gets imo.

Pros: good choice, low volatility
Cons: price higher than LM

If you’re going from 15W-40 to 10W-40 the viscosity is the same. If you tekan a lot, suggest you try out something from Mobil, Penrite or Motul . They’re expensive for a reason.

Pros: good viscosity
Cons: expensive

Mobil 1 FS X2 5W-50 + BG oil additives because of higher mileage (259k km), been running good for the past 3.5 months, previous owner used some Castrol 5W-30, so i wanted a change and test oil consumption.

Pros: running good
Cons: test oil consumption
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 259000 km

Mobil Engine oil

I've used a bunch of different oils including Castrol Edge, Amsoil, Valvoline, Mobil 1, and Liqui Moly. All Euro spec. All 5W-40.

I was trying different oils because our Tiguan burns oil, and I wanted to see if any particular brand would burn less.

So far, Mobil 1 Euro 5W-40 burns about half a liter every 1000 miles, while all the others burned about 800 mL. So I'm sticking with that oil for now.

Pros: burns less oil
Cons: null
Mileage: 1609 km

Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 all day long on my sporty for both engine oil and primary/transmission. Mobil 1 has better wear protection than the HD stuff.

Pros: better wear protection

I work in the automotive industry; and by far, Liqui Molly, Motul, and Total exceed Mobil 1. Mobil 1 has the recognition and they worked hard at marketing for many years. Independent German studies conclude that they are 3rd place at best when it comes to \"good quality\" oils.

Pros: good quality oils
Cons: 3rd place at best
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I know when I put my stroker block in with stock head/turbo I filled it with 0w-40 and I would get low oil pressure when deaccelerating down hills.. Low enough the light would flash on, got my freaked out! with the new head. and my 71r 72a/r set up going on I'm swapping to 10w-40 mobil 1, because when I took the old head off there was a TON of carbon build up for the small amount of miles I had driven the new block around(less then 2,000 miles). I had changed the old twice already(once ot get the break in oil out and once again at 500 where I dropped the pan to check for metal and such and up in a new pick up tube for piece of mind). I have good reason to believe the 0w-40 is just too thin for the clearances for stroker pistons and such. I'll report back once the car is up and running with the 10w-40 in it. If the oil pressure problems persist I'm thinking about stepping up to 10w-50, but Im in southern California so YMMV depending on how cold/hot it gets around you.

Cons: low oil pressure, carbon buildup, too thin
Mileage: 3219 km
