Engine oil Castrol or ELF

Castrol Engine oil

To that statement you should also add German made Castrol Syntec 0W-30, an oil that not only meets the 502.00 oil spec, but the far more stringent 503.01 spec as well.

Pros: meets 502.00, 503.01 spec

Castrol Engine oil

I've topped off with Castrol Syntec 5/40. The cap says Castrol on it and the manual says to use VW approved synthetic 5/40 so I figure I can't do better than that.

Pros: VW approved
Cons: Finding the stuff is kinda hard

ok i just did an oil change today. i put in Elf Excellium 10W50 Full Synthetic. anyways, the difference is awesome. much more free reving and "wanting to go faster" feeling. before oil change it felt tired and revs were lazy and engine had a 'fuzzy' sound when accelerating. anyways, all is good now

Pros: much more free reving
Cons: engine felt tired

ELF Engine oil

Just started using it in my '03 3.0 (90K service). Elf 0W30. Notice a substantial increase in mileage! Hate the price, though...$13.95/litre CDN! And at 6.5 litres for the change...well, you get the picture.

Pros: increase in mileage
Cons: high price
Mileage: 90000 km

ELF Engine oil

That's just it.... I bet his iron levels were quite high on m1, just like everyone else is seeing.... which is why I switched to Elf.

Cons: high iron levels

Castrol Engine oil

You probably don't \"need\" syn, but its a darn good idea, esp if you want to run 5000k ocis with urban driving and/or want to keep the car for a long time. If you do stick, with conventional, which i don't recommend, make sure its better stuff like Castrol GTX.

Pros: darn good idea
Cons: not recommended
Mileage: 5000 km

Castrol Engine oil

I run either 0w40 castrol full syn or 0w40 pentosyn in all my cars. After changing oil every 1000miles for 5oil changes and ever 3k after that my old corolla looked like a brand new engine inside with 125k on it when I pulled the valve cover to do a t-belt.

Pros: engine looked brand new
Mileage: 201150 km
