TBH I'd just buy the rotors and get stoptech pads. I have use many pairs of them and they work well without breaking the bank.
I really like the stoptech sport brake pads. They are very aggressive and brake very well with excellent initial bite. They don't fade much after repeated heavy braking which is nice. This does come at a cost. Since these are semi-metallic compounds they will eat your rotors. You will be replacing rotors with pads every time.
M3 stock brakes are better, the GTI gets a little tail-happy under hard braking above 110-130mph.
I have custom drilled rotors and Stoptech/Centric Posi-Quiet pads combined with Stoptech SS lines on my LS430. I'm very happy with the combo but I would not recommend those rotors if you're looking for longevity. I would stick with regular blanks or slotted only if you really want that stopping power and longevity.
Centric/StopTech PosiQuiet ceramic pads. Couldn\u2019t be happier. Almost no dust in comparison to stock. And yes, a bit less bite, which I\u2019m fine with.
I've got the TTRS brakes on my mk6. Good OEM+ option for you mk6 and mk7 guys. Direct bolt on. They help out a lot on the track. Stoptech pads for street and carbotech xp10 on track. EVO and STI pads fit as well.
Seems like there would be room in the market for a slightly detuned S55 base model without the fancy seats, brakes and wheels for about $5-8k less like the M3/M4: M3/M4 Competition.
I have StopTech Street Pads and Centric rotors, not drilled or slotted - just regular with no coatings.
Hey Paul, I'm reaching out because of a recent order I put in that the invoice you sent looks incorrect.
Even though they have the word street in the name, they are very prone to judder and deposit build up and are not good under gentle street usage.
