Brake pads R1 Concepts or Ferodo

Ferodo Brake pads

Very happy with the setup. I’ve failed to get it to fade on either mountain roads or the track, but never done long stints, maybe 20 min max. The DS2500s are nice because you can swap them out for other more or less aggressive Ferodo compounds without issue.

I ran Hawk pads on cars in the past and hated them, can’t say enough good things about the Ferodos.

Pros: failed to fade
Cons: hated Hawk pads
Vehicle: BMW

Ferodo Brake pads

I would recommend first to switch fluid for Castrol SRF then switch to Ferodo DS1.11 brake pads exclusively for track use and DS2500 for daily/canyon carving. The beauty of Ferodo brake pads is that it not needed to re-bedding your pads when switching compounds as long as you stay within the Ferodo family.DS1.11 are endurance pads that love to operate in very high temperatures which might not require cooling ducts.

Pros: endurance pads, high-temp operation

Ether Motul RBF 600 or Endless RF650 brake fluid is a good options. As far as pads go Ferodo DS2500 is a great pad for street/track. It has relatively low dust and noise levels compared to other track pads, yet still has moderately high bite and solid fade resistance of a track pad.

Pros: low dust, low noise

DS2500s on my daily. Bit of squeak, but it’s not bad at all. I have EBC yellow on the rear as they don’t make DS2500s for a non PP mk7.5, and they’re garbage.

Cons: squeak

I've had mine for like 60k miles. 87k ish on the clock. Just changed everything. Yearly inspection and the shop rejected it for brakes. Brake installer said the weren't that bad. I bought an R1 Concepts kit. Front and rear rotors plus pads all around. $220 shipped on Walmart+ (also found on Amazon or Rock Auto). The shop had a brakes special: $160 installed for new pads. Since I had the parts and rotors take like 30 seconds to swap out, they charged me for two brake installs at $150 each. So all in installed was like $550 after taxes. For reference: the shop that rejected it quoted something like $500 for the front and $500 for the rear. And I don't think it was all new everything.

Cons: rejected for brakes
Mileage: 87000 km
