Blank rotors and Hawk HPS 5.0 pads. I’ve been running them for almost a decade, and I’m always surprised at how long they last and how little dust they make for how aggressive as they are.

Pros: long lasting, low dust

I haven't investigated ceramic pads for the Golf R but based on the Hawk Ceramic Compound Performance Pads I have on my A4, which has huge RS4 front calipers and B7 S4 rears, I'd try them as they are quiet, generate negligible dust and are easy on the rotors.

Pros: quiet, negligible dust
Cons: none
Vehicle: Audi A4

Hawk DTC 50 or 60 on front, DTC 10 on rear. Squeals for sure! Works great with cheap stock rotors and toyo RA-1 or RR... Its my daily (300k km) and now backup track car when weather is iffy

Pros: works great, good with stock rotors
Cons: squeals
Mileage: 300000 km

One thing that I am surprised by are the brakes. They're still fine at 110k, and it's not like this 4,000lb beast has EV-levels of regen.

Pros: brakes still fine
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 110000 km

I'm now at 120k miles. Still have over 4mm on both the front and rear pads, and the rotors look fine. So that's at least 50k miles I'll get out of a set of OEM brakes, but I expect more like 75k. 6 speed hatchback if it makes any difference.

I can't imagine a situation where I replace them with anything other than OEM Toyota parts. They've lasted an impressive amount of time, rarely squeak, and don't make any dust.

Pros: long lasting, no squeaking, little dust
Mileage: 120000 km

Had one in 2012. A cba 2009. Blew transmission. Covered under warranty. They put in a DBA transmission and bellhousing. Had full bolt ons and the car was fun. Ran mid 10\u2019s at over 130 mph. Stock brakes sucked. I upgraded to J hook rotors and I think hawk pads.

Pros: fun, ran mid 10s
Cons: stock brakes sucked
Vehicle: Nissan
