Brake pads OEM Subaru or OEM Porsche

OEM Subaru Brake pads

Bought top of the line brake pads Front and rear for 115 dollars a you tube video and a 7 dollar spanner got me through the job. Didn't need rotors I've learned shops automatically want to change those.

Pros: top of the line
Cons: shops want to change rotors

My 981 Cayman is very maintenance friendly. I’ve done oil, transaxle oil, spark plugs (tight space but doable), brakes, etc. It is quite a bit easier than the 718 since you have to remove underpanels to gain access to the underside of engine/transaxle.

Pros: maintenance friendly, easy access
Cons: tight space for plugs

I went in for a 30k service (2021 Ascent) and mentioned the brake judder and warranty extension. They confirmed and ordered the parts (pads and rotors), awaiting parts now but it seems it will be all be covered.

I had a 996.2 and an early 2.5L 986 and I loved the Boxster more. One of the best cars I've owned. I drove it back and forth from NC to WI several times. I am 6'5" and had luggage room to spare. It made better sounds than the 996. It was not very fast. It was pretty easy to work on and every single DIY job is well documented online. It was really comfortable. The handling is awesome, the brakes are awesome. Even the base ones.

Pros: handling is awesome, brakes are awesome
Cons: not very fast
Vehicle: Porsche

Watched some YouTube, bought OEM parks off rock auto, did it in 40 mins for $300. Those bitches survived many track days for another 30,000 miles till I sold the car.

Pros: cheap, long lasting
Mileage: 30000 km

I haven't had AEB slam on the brakes going forward but have had distance reminders. When my bike is on rack backing up will set off the system.

Pros: distance reminders
Cons: not as accurate
Vehicle: Subaru

I can’t wait to get my brakes fixed under warranty. This will be the 4th brake job before 60k miles which is horrendous. Hopefully around Thanksgiving I’ll try to get her in. The shuddering, the noise etc are something I expect from a car with 200k miles, but my 14 year old Honda with 202k, which also has had 4 brake jobs, feels way better than my 2021 Ascent

Cons: horrendous, shuddering, noise
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 60000 km

They are the worst deal. They charge like what $93 now for an oil change? I can get a case of 12 quarts for like $24. And do it my self. I can’t even remember what they tried to quote me for a brake job. I got brakes and rotors for under $200.

Pros: DIY is cheaper
Cons: worst deal, overpriced
