Brake pads EBC or Ferodo

EBC Brake pads

Mitsubishi also claimed the same horsepower numbers were the same from the EVO VIII to the EVO IX and we saw how much of a half-truth that was. Mitsubishi always seems to err on the side of caution when it comes to performance claims.

I must say I am very happy with the bite and performance of the pads. Vast improvement over stock. Made more dust in the beginning, but now its fine.

Pros: vast improvement over stock
Cons: more dust in beginning

What I did notice is that the brakes performed better when doing repeated stops which is related to their heat dissispation.

Pros: better performance, repeated stops

The most economical upgrade for street use is just beefy pads. Try Ferodo DS2500 on the front axle with your OEM 11.3" rotors combined with Hawk HPS on the rears.

Pros: economical upgrade, beefy pads

I liked the ferodo street pad a lot. I got mine used from potterman when I bought the brakes from his one lap car. They had great initial bite and did farely well on track. They would start to get overworked towards the end of a session but they are street pads. They dust a lot just like the 2500s.

Pros: great initial bite, farely well
Cons: get overworked, dust a lot

I run audio TT front rotors (12.3 instead of 11.3), aggressive pads (ferodo DS2500) and racing brake fluid (motul rbf 600) and even on the track where you have to do some high speed stops (125-45) I havent really seen much brake fade.

Pros: little brake fade

Yeah use OEM rotors with DS2500 pads. That will be a great setup! Actually, DS2500 might be a bit too much for street, since they are pretty dusty and a little noisy.

Pros: great setup
Cons: dusty and noisy
Vehicle: Volkswagen
