Brake pads Brembo or OEM Mazda

Brembo Brake pads

I swapped front pads with a 13mm socket, hammer and drift pin. In about 30 mins in my driveway. $210, parts delivered from Amazon. Took the opportunity to scrub out calibers free from all the caked on brake dust. Cleaned the inside of the wheels while I was there. Dealership wanted $787 just for the front pads and quoted more than $1000 installed. Easiest job ever and saved $500-$700.

Pros: easy installation, cost savings
Cons: high dealership price
Vehicle: Dodge

Brembo Brake pads

I have 45k miles on my 2016 STI and just replaced all 4 rotors and pads with another set of Brembos. I don’t drive the car particularly hard and probably could have waited a bit longer but they are done now so I shouldn’t have to worry about them. Cost me about 1k all-in, parts and labor.

Pros: reliable, long lasting
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 45000 km

I just put some Brembro low met pads on out SQ5. They are more progressive bite, but I like them better than the Hawk HPS 5.0 on my S4. When you get on them they stop very well. Not sure on dust yet.

Pros: good stopping power, progressive bite
Cons: dust unsure

Brembo Brake pads

I recently installed Brembo pads. It cost around £150 for the whole set (1 pair at the back, 2 pairs for the front). But the new ones are day and night difference. It's now super sharp with amazing modulation.

Pros: amazing modulation, super sharp

2016.5 CX-5 with 89,000 miles. So far I've had to replace the belt tensioner, accessories belt, water pump belt and breaks (technically I only needed pads and front rotors but I chose to just do them all in one shot since it made a negligible price difference since I was already doing the back pads.

Pros: cheap replacements
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 89000 km

Seems a bit sus - but it's not unusual for rear pads to wear faster than front on certain cars. My Ford Flex and CX-50 both wear pads faster out back (it made sense on the Flex because of long wheelbase but was surprised the 50 did it too). That said they should last twice as long.

Cons: rear pads wear fast

Those Brembo pads that cost $500 a set are total trash, too. They are low friction and still real dusty. I threw mine in the trash at like 2000 miles.

Cons: low friction, dusty
Mileage: 2000 km
