However I have Carbotech brake pads, the 1521's for the street and then for the track day I had XP12 (front) XP10 (rear). Pads are compatible with the rotor, and I had the track pads well bedded in.

Pros: pads compatible with rotor

Carbotech XP10 Front Pads Only - USED - $45 shipped to U.S. lower 48 -these are proper endurance racing pads (popular in Spec Miata, Spec E30, etc), I wouldn't try to use these on the street -used for 2 track days on my '09 TDI -11.6mm of friction material remaining (approx 85%)

Pros: proper endurance racing pads
Cons: not for street use
Part number: CX1107

ATE Brake pads

I have Bendix/Zimmerman rotors and stock ATE/Brembo SM pads and pound the living s**t out of the brakes on Track Days and HPDE ( instructor ). Other than a bit of fade after about 6 laps of HARD braking I've had zero issues. Pad life and condition is still excellent.

Pros: pad life excellent
Cons: bit of fade

Carbotech Brake pads

Thiis is what I am contemplating for under $5k strictly for my Golf R to suit my driving needs in the Rockies , New Mexico pleasure driving in the spring and summer, also driving around BC, between Whistler and Kalowna 1) No Engine mods during warranty period or until 2020 ( free !) 2) HPA-Coil Overs ($1500 installed) 3) HPA- Haldex Controller ($1500 installed) 4) New Carbontech 1521 brake pads on OEM rotors ($250 installed) 5) Audi TTRS Brake Hoses ($300 installed) 6) Motul RBF600 brake fluid ($100 installed) 7) HPA-Short Shifter ($250 installed) I am thinking this would not void either the engine or drive train warranty's

Pros: good for driving needs

I'm definitely sold on ATE parts. They are the OEM on my GTI and have 49,000 miles on all the original pads and rotors, plenty of life left.

Pros: plenty of life left
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 78858 km

Stock pads are terrible for longevity. They have to do too many different things from factory, buy a set of aftermarket to your needs. I had a set of Carbotech which lasted 50k in the front and over 60k in the rear, with aggressive driving.

Pros: lasted 50k-60k
Cons: terrible for longevity
Vehicle: MINI
Mileage: 50000 km
