Brake discs Detroit Axle or R1 Concepts

R1 Concepts Brake discs

I have used rotors from R1 Concepts for over 15 years, on vehicles ranging from a Dodge Caravan, Chevy Trailblazer, to multiple BMWs and have never had an issue. They’re high quality and good price and I highly recommend them.

Pros: high quality, good price
Vehicle: BMW

Its been just under a week after installing R1 Concept's Geomet drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads, I am impressed. Extremely quiet and smooth ride but once they're hot, they get aggressive.

Pros: quiet and smooth ride
Cons: get aggressive when hot

I bought R1 Concepts front rotors for my Lexus IS250 at 85k miles. My car sits at 143k miles 5 years later and they have been the BEST rotors i have ever used. I chose their Geomet coating, and they are so rust resistant it is ridiculous. I have zero rust on the veins or hub of my brakes at all after all this time. I have used Powerstop rotors in the past on numerous vehicles, but I find the zinc coating will always rust after a few years. The R1 Concepts geomet coating is the best in my experience.

Pros: best rotors, rust resistant
Vehicle: Lexus
Mileage: 58000 km

I have R1Concepts Geo-Carbon series rotors (2nd vehicle I’ve used them on), absolutely no complaints from my Giulia. I’m rocking them with Porterfield R4-S pads and the bite in dry is very nice and feels the same in wet.

Pros: nice bite in dry/wet
Cons: none
Vehicle: Alfa Romeo Giulia

I just installed front axle drilled and slotted rotors, and new pads, all from R1 Concepts, and total cost shipped (Amazon) was $56. Tax, delivery, shims, everything but silicone grease.

Pros: low cost, easy install

Installed new r1 concepts drilled and slotted rotors. After break-in, I noticed a clicking sound from both front rotors, resembling a wheel of fortune. The sound happens when a pad is in. The r1 concepts rotors are dimple instead of drilled all the way through, unlike my previous Power Stop rotors. Brakes feel great otherwise, but this pesky clicking noise when I have windows down will drive me nuts. I may go back to Power Stop.

Pros: good braking feel
Cons: clicking noise from rotors
