I got 14 years out of the battery in my Volvo.
I had U350100 as a soft fault in my Tiguan's system for a while about a year ago. I had it throw a hard fault and CEL for the same code twice. I found this to be caused by a fatiguing main battery. Not able to hold a high enough charge constantly to keep all the systems happy. I replaced and coded the replacement battery (000-915-105-CC-DSP) from VW. Made sure to change it's coding to know it was an AGM battery I installed in the Tiguan. Fault has not returned since.
When you change/disconnect the battery you will have the dash light up....just drive it and they clear out once you hit ~10mph.
Tdi Touareg (mid 2000s) battery fits, with posts recessed and in the right place. Dealer price used to be like $115 and they are solid 900cca performers.
My original vw battery made it 8 years and 170k miles, but 10 years is pretty damn good!
Just got off the phone with my dealer to check, just in case they had a different update. Turns out my VIN has a recall on the battery. He stated as long as it's under 3 yr/36k it's eligible for replacement. Something to do with the connection was the reason for recall. Needless to say I have an appt. next week for a free battery replacement. My 2016 is at 2 yr/22k. I've had no issues myself other than the time it died while I was fiddling around in VCDS in the garage with the light switch in Auto (clearly my fault) :banghead: Thanks for the free battery replacement VW
Battery died July 2022. So got 3 years out of it. New battery is AGM (OEM VW from dealer). Stock battery was not AGM.
Since the battery weighs ~40 lbs this isn't really a significant weight change from front to rear so I've no idea if the car handles any differently. Would I recommend this mod? Probably not as it's not cheap and has no real performance advantage and more crazy than anything.
I've got an essentially new Golf R only about 3 months old and I think my battery is no good. I keep it connected to a battery tender as I dont'drive it often. Even after a week of being connected it never reaches full charge. Also, After I discomnect I put a quick load on it by turning on the lights in order to remove the surface charge from the battery tendder. Prior to putting the load on and just after disconnecting the battery tender the rading is 12.8Votls. After putting the load on by turning on the lights for a minute the voltage reading then drops to 12.28 which seems awfully load. I'm assuming my battery is no good.
the battery in my 2016 died while JUST inside the 36k warranty. the OEM replacement lasted another 30k or so. bought an AGM replacement from Costco, but I don't expect it to last any longer.
