I've done all the scheduled maintenance on the car over the last 6 months including: Bosch S5 Battery
Put one in my Frontier last winter, and had more consistent starts. Cost half of Nissan dealership with higer CCA.
The best replacement battery i use in all my Vw's and other cars and trucks is Bosch..They are usually right over 100 bux but the are dependable, They also come with a 7 year warrenty.
Just get a good battery from a known "brand" manufacturer (Bosch, etc) - they will last much longer than a supercheapie
I got a Bosch Battery from Pep Boys. It was 90 bucks but it has a KILLER warranty. I forget exactly but it has road side assistance. 3 year free replacement and like 7 year total I think. Fit PERFECTLY. It looked exactly like the old stock battery other than the acid level thingy.
When I worked at AutoZone we carried the OEM Bosch battery, and it was about the price of the Duralast Gold.
Walmart everstart battery lasted about a year from my experience. This used car i bought came with a Bosch battery. it died right before 3 year free replacement. I took it to the pepboys and they gave new one for free.
I bought a Bosch for my car. Size 47. 600CCA at 0F, 750 at 32F (Part # S5531B) It's starts the car fine, but if the car has been sitting in the deep cold for 2 days.... it cranks a bit slow.
I've been seeing the same issue with batteries branded under Bosch and Champion. On several cars, I rarely had to replace batteries, now it seems like it is a 1-2 year thing on any battery. They are dying faster without ability to recharge. I just posted in the Scirocco forums that my 3 year warrantied Bosch battery is no longer holding a charge and its not even 11 months since I bought it. Glad to know that I'm not alone in seeing that engineered battery obsolescence seems to have arrived.
Aside from getting a defective Bosch battery that was replaced for fre I've never had a problem with either.
