Battery OEM Mazda or YUASA

YUASA Battery

I have a yuasa ybx 3000 recharging battery for Mazda 6 2011. I've had it three years with no problems since recently.

Pros: no problems for years
Cons: flat battery recently
Vehicle: Mazda 6
Part number: YBX 3000

OEM Mazda Battery

2014 Mazda 3 with 322,000 kms, it's doing fine. I'm still on original engine, transmission and starter. I use it almost daily in traffic. The only problem is that the battery is slightly more costly than a standard one, which offsets the miniscule fuel savings you're getting from the system

Pros: original engine, transmission, starter
Cons: battery is slightly more costly
Vehicle: Mazda 3
Mileage: 322000 km

YUASA Battery

For the last couple years my riding mower has been starting off of the Yuasa battery that I had taken out of my Valkyrie. I took it out because it was 10 years old and I thought I might be pushing my luck with it. I credit using a tender to give me 12+ years on my bike battery plus it’s a quality battery.

Pros: quality battery, long life
Vehicle: Honda

YUASA Battery

Had this issue with the R1250RT - apparently the hot engine means more compression, so need more power to start - after a while the OEM-battery just doesn’t have the punch.

I upgraded the battery to the Yuasa YTX20CH‑BS and it solved the problem.

Pros: solved the problem
Cons: OEM battery not punchy
Part number: YTX20CH‑BS

I have this car. Most important is that below -12C, the gas engine stays on, and won't let you drive around on electric alone. That accounts for several months of driving in our winters. Secondly, even in temps below +10C, you have less access to the battery's energy, so your range drops even independently from the usual cold temp range losses.

Pros: preheat cabin from battery
Cons: gas engine stays on
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 20000 km

My battery conked out at the normal time after 6 years. But it still didn’t give me any warning that it was dying. 2019 Mazda 3 here

Pros: lasted 6 years
Cons: no warning before dying
Vehicle: Mazda 3

YUASA Battery

Yuasa used to make great batteries, would get ten years out of a battery ('91 R100GS) outside w/o a battery tender. Not any more, the last two were good for six or seven months

Pros: used to be great
Cons: only six or seven months
Vehicle: BMW

YUASA Battery

I should have bought a yuasa. I bought another brand and rode it hard and two days later it wouldn’t start. I ordered a yuasa since that’s what was in there.

Pros: ordered a yuasa
Cons: wouldn't start

OEM Mazda Battery

These are excellent cars but for some reason the batteries they use are bad. I had a 21 Mazda 3. The battery failed in 2023. They replaced it under warranty. The new battery lasted literally less than 6 months.

Cons: poor quality, short lifespan
Vehicle: Mazda 3
