OEM Volkswagen Battery

Tdi Touareg (mid 2000s) battery fits, with posts recessed and in the right place. Dealer price used to be like $115 and they are solid 900cca performers.

Pros: solid performer, 900cca
Vehicle: Volkswagen Touareg

Just got off the phone with my dealer to check, just in case they had a different update. Turns out my VIN has a recall on the battery. He stated as long as it's under 3 yr/36k it's eligible for replacement. Something to do with the connection was the reason for recall. Needless to say I have an appt. next week for a free battery replacement. My 2016 is at 2 yr/22k. I've had no issues myself other than the time it died while I was fiddling around in VCDS in the garage with the light switch in Auto (clearly my fault) :banghead: Thanks for the free battery replacement VW

Pros: free battery replacement
Mileage: 22000 km

Took my car to the dealership last week for warranty work on a leaking water pump and they told me that there was a recall on my battery. Battery was replaced the same day, had no prior notice of the recall before the visit.

Pros: battery replaced same day

I've got a '13 R with KESSY and NAV. that had a weird slow start, which made me think the KESSY swt. was worn like another thread mentioned. So I tore it apart and it was dirty on the contacts so I cleaned them. After that it seemed better but the car had 30+K miles and I did get another weird slow start, so I tested the battery and it tested good/charge. I did end up replacing the battery. I haven't had any issues since then. Now at 52K miles.

Pros: no issues since then
Cons: weird slow start
Mileage: 83686 km

With your help, I just replaced my 9 year, still well functioning battery, in violation of the "if ain't broke..." rule. The process went without a hitch, thanks to your great information.

Pros: process went without hitch

OEM battery died at 3 years old / 50,000km. Was tested and deemed defective and replaced for free. Replacement OEM battery is currently 3 years / 45,000km old and I'm a bit nervous on long trips this winter lol. I got it tested last month out of paranoia and it came back all good.

Pros: replaced for free
Cons: died early, short lifespan
Mileage: 50000 km

I've got an essentially new Golf R only about 3 months old and I think my battery is no good. I keep it connected to a battery tender as I dont'drive it often. Even after a week of being connected it never reaches full charge. Also, After I discomnect I put a quick load on it by turning on the lights in order to remove the surface charge from the battery tendder. Prior to putting the load on and just after disconnecting the battery tender the rading is 12.8Votls. After putting the load on by turning on the lights for a minute the voltage reading then drops to 12.28 which seems awfully load. I'm assuming my battery is no good.

Cons: voltage drops quickly

the battery in my 2016 died while JUST inside the 36k warranty. the OEM replacement lasted another 30k or so. bought an AGM replacement from Costco, but I don't expect it to last any longer.

Cons: short lifespan, died early
Mileage: 30000 km
