Yeah they use undersized batteries, but just buy a good one and that's the end of it. my 2019 Legacy had is original battery after 4 years when I traded it in.
Yes. Subaru batteries are hot garbage. Go third party all day. I stand by any AGM I can pick up at Autozone, since they stand behind the batteries they sell.
My dealer replaced the battery, updated the firmware and did a parasitic drain test.
This one looks like it’s in very good shape, I’ve seen similar for sale for $200 to $300 but the couple I’ve seen at auction sold for $80 and $110 if my memory is correct. Both where in much worse shape than yours.
We’ve been using Luminous inverter with an Exide battery for about a year now. No issues so far, works well to provide backup for about 4 hours.
I'm still running on the original battery, which does surprisingly well until subzero temps set in, and then the poor thing just cries a lot and breaks my heart, so I jump it with my Noco and things are fine.
Subaru's factory batteries suck. I've had to replace them in several Subaru's that were only like 2 years old. Doubly tough if the car is just sitting for a period of time between uses.
Left with exide crap.
I had Subaru batteries last me only 2 years in upstate NY. I kept getting them for free under warranty. I probably got 4 this way. Finally, the dealer said your alternator is bad and that's why they are going bad (completely bogus). I started going to a local mechanics soon after that and they told me that super OEM batteries are complete garbage.
I have a 2019 Subaru outback. The battery dies every two months and I am left stranded.
