Bosch Icons The Bosch Icons do fit the 2016 R, as I just successfully installed them. You need to find the ones that are clearly marked on the outside as "Clearmax 365" which is the newest version, and it comes with a small plastic bag inside containing two optional adapters, one being the #4 that we need for the R. You snap off the adapter that is shipped from the factory installed on the blade, and replace it with the #4 adapter which allows it to fit perfectly on the R. The install instructions that come with the blade leave a lot to be desired, so just make sure you install the new adapter with the arrow pointing in the same direction as the one on the blade.

Ordered these from Valeo (VM387) for my R and my gf's MK7 GTI. They already came with the adapters installed and took all of 2 minutes to replace them. They perform great too. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SRACAOO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Bosch Icons At least near me in Central Ohio, O'Reillys Auto Parts has plenty of the ClearMax 365 version of the Bosch Icons that we need, whereas I struck out at AutoZone/CarQuest.
Went Bosch Icon OE, took 5 min. Just make sure if you go Bosch buy the OE and get the new version. New version has multiple mounting options included in a plastic bag with the wiper. Hope this helps people that dont want OEM...
Just went through the whole wiper blade replacement hassle last month. My original rear wiper blade was dragging badly. Just replaced it with this: Bosch A 282 H 280mm/11" rear wiper blade Works great, snaps right in with no needed additional clips or mods. Works great so far - no more dragging.
I recommend the Trico blade. My OEM blade skipped and made a lot of noise. Now that I have the Trico it works perfectly. Same for the windshield wipers.
I ran into the same problem--ordered Bosch OE 26 and 19 ICON wiper blades on Amazon (which are the correct blades for our A3/S3s as confirmed on the Bosch website), and couldn't get them to fit my car. Adapter piece was wrong. One of the blades came with no extra adapters, and the other came with multiple adapters, but none of them were correct for this car. It was a bit of a pain in the butt, but I ended up carefully disassembling my stock blades and removing the rubber insert, and then doing the same to the Bosch units, and then reassembling my stock wipers with the new Bosch rubber inserts. Now they're great--sooooo much better than the stock setup. Cleans well with no chatter.
I installed this Valeo set a few weeks ago. They've been excellent so far.
Silicon blades are the way to go. They last way longer and have a cleaner wipe which is why you don't see them at most retail locations.
I have a set of Valeos on right now and they suck. I'm going back to the Bosch Icons I used previously.
