I had my e90 with bmw logo changed after a crack at 186,000 miles. I pushed for the oem glass maker that was Pilkington. I made sure to have them order the correct glass, made sure it had the correct factory tint at the top and it had the correct color of tint too.

Pros: correct factory tint, correct color
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 186000 km

Pilkington Windshield

I had my windshield replaced recently though my insurance, they tinted it (70% ceramic) for free and installed Pilkington glass for free. Not sure what the OEM is but Pilkington is aftermarket that's as good if not better than any OEM glass, many have reported it seems stronger where you wont get chips quite as easily.

Pros: as good as OEM, seems stronger

Windshield tech here. These windshields being almost straight up and down makes them very prone to rock chips, and the quality of Ford OEM glass has been getting worse by the year, it’s incredibly thin. If you replace it I would suggest putting in OE glass instead, if you can, ask for PGW or FYG glass.

Pros: PGW or FYG glass suggested
Cons: Ford OEM glass is thin

2021 X3. Ive had four windshield replacements this year! I have had one replacement in 25 years on other cars, and now my BMW seems to get impacted by every single flying rock. I too avoid getting close to trucks and cars, and it still occurs :(

Cons: frequent replacements, impacted by rocks
Vehicle: BMW X3

OEM glass sucks and pits the easiest. Makes sense because my 07 with 78k miles has way worse glass than my others cars with double the mileage.

Cons: pits easily, worse quality

OEM Hyundai Windshield

I am currently 1 month in waiting for my windshield from Hyundai. I had my car not 2 months when my windshield was hit on the highway by what had to be a small rock and the crack began immediately straight across to other side. It's crazy to have to wait so long for this part and it's my only means of transportation so it has been difficult. It's the backorder and waiting from Hyundai for a simple windshield that is frustrating!!

Cons: cracked immediately, long wait time, frustrating backorder
