I would stand by the Michelin Cross Climate 2 as a year round tire. I found it fantastic in the rain and snow. I think the trade off was that the ice performance was worse than a traditional snow and ice tire, but overall, it was just fantastic and if my current car hadn't come with new tires, I would have just bought those again.

Pros: fantastic in rain, fantastic in snow, overall fantastic
Cons: worse on ice

I had blizzaks that I bought used on Kijiji for my outback I had, the previous person had them for 3 winters, and I also had them for 3 winters and there was still probably another winter left in them if you wanted to chance it, I didn’t have any issues with them, maybe a little rough but they were also on steel wheels

Pros: excellent longevity, no issues
Cons: a little rough

the X-Ice has lower rolling resistance (better fuel economy) and is the only winter tire I know of with a manufacturer treadlife warranty, so if longevity is your concern, go Michelin.

Pros: lower rolling resistance, better fuel economy, treadlife warranty, good longevity

I will say after installing diff and subframe bushings, there is a marked difference in cold weather performance on these tires. The car likes to step out a lot more readily. With stock bushings, the difference shouldn't be that exaggerated, but there is a difference in performance on cold Pilots.

Cons: not good in cold
Vehicle: Toyota
