But I have been running Saliun Ice Blazers WST and I have found them awesome so far (2 seasons). I even took them out ice racing last year and they performed good on a frozen lake.

Continental wintercontact si is damn good value for money and outperforms blizzaks. I use them on my rwd car and there great. Definitely recommend them.
I was looking for the same size but Kijiji'ed a 1-year old set of Pirelli Winter Carvings, on steelies, for 340. Checked the wheels for rust/cracks, treads, consistent pressure across tires.
Just a quick follow-up on my 4Motion GSW with the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2s. This is an amazing winter car. I've been driving on bad winter roads for 30 years, and this is the best winter car that I've owned, including my 2005 Subaru Outback. Winter is in full force in Calgary and it feels like I'm driving on dry pavement. So much grip.
17" VW/Ronal Sima with Dunlop Wintersport 4D. Really happy with this combo.
I ran Nexen N-Fera SU1 on my GTI this summer and they were great. Wet/Dry performance for the daily driver was great, noise wasn't an issue either. Seem to be wearing well.
I've been using Nokians for 20 years and have never been disappointed.
I have the IceGuards on my RWD Solstice GXP and they've worked great over the past two snowy winters. I haven't noticed any problem in the wet either.
I currently have these tires on my mk2 in 165-45r15 on some porsche phonedials. They are awesome because they exist in sizes that the general population doesn't care about and they are super cheap. The down side..... They have sh!tty grip and the sidewalls are made of spaghetti. They feel like poop in the turns. But hey, for how cheap they are I can't really complain.
I had the 18" Hankook tires on my 2012 Highline and managed to get almost 50,000 KMs out of them before I traded the car. They were always quite noisy, and they wore terribly.
