I also live in the Twin Cities and switched from the stock hankooks to BFG KO2s. Huge difference in the snow. I almost never had to switch into 4wd. Definitely would recommend them for around here.

Pros: huge difference in snow

Continental Tires

They seems good through the MN winter, including 2 trips to the North Shore of Superior. It snowed both times, and we never had any issue with traction.

Pros: good traction

Yokohama Advan Sport A/S 245-45-19. Stock is 225-45-19. They fit well and the performance difference over stock is very noticeable (handles much better).

Pros: handles much better

Maxxis Tires

The best blend of traction and longevity I've ridden so far is Maxxis Minions in the 60 compound. They held up to multiple days in Whistler Bike Park and were still in fine shape.

Pros: traction and longevity

Nokia Tires

Last Fall I asked for winter tire recommendations and ended up buying Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3s for my 2021 KonaEV Preferred - many thanks for the advice - I was **very** happy with them through the winter.

Pros: very happy through winter
Vehicle: Hyundai

MICHELIN Tires

For what it\u2019s worth, I went down two wheel sizes with my 2018 Golf R. 19 to 17 for Michelin snow tires, from 235/35-19 to 225/45-17. Not much weather yet to really test but some handling loss of course.

Cons: some handling loss

Every set of Contis and Michelins I have ever seen wear for absolute crap, lose all of their grip after a short amount of mileage, poorly riding, compromised in handling, and are LOUD to the point of distraction....Right up until they are a bare, poorly weathered carcass at less than 20k in mileage. They have never seen worth the price that they charge for them.

Cons: poor wear, lose grip, poor ride, compromised handling, loud
Mileage: 20000 km
