I got 30,000 miles out of mine (Continentals on 19" Gemini wheels on a MYP.) I replaced them with Hankook iON evo suv. Amazing tires.

Pros: amazing tires, smooth ride
Mileage: 48280 km

Nokia Tires
Barrenhammer
  • Grip:
  • Noise:
Rating 4.0

Had a set on my car that I just sold. In 40000 miles of having them, they were still at 80%. Noise wasn’t bad, and grip was pretty good for what they are (I’m a bit aggressive on highway on/off ramps).

Pros: good grip, not bad noise
Mileage: 64373 km

Continental Tires

Continental all the way. Their soft compound is objectively grippier than the MaxxGrip compound. And their super soft is wizard demon magic that grips like no ones buisness but is suprisingly long wearing.

Pros: grippier than MaxxGrip, long wearing

RYOBI Tires

  • Ride comfort:
Rating 5.0

I have the Ryobi One+ inflator since I have typical Ryobi tools and it gets A LOT of use. It is so easy to use. Maybe not for inflation of big tires from zero but wow I find my self maintain proper pressure way more now that it is so easy.

Pros: easy to use, gets a lot of use
Cons: not for big tires

NANKANG Tires

  • Grip:
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 4.0

Nankang's FT7 tires are good, cheap and can take quite the beating off road without shredding to bits. You won't need M/T tires for your usecase.

Pros: good, cheap, can take beating
Cons: without shredding to bits

BFGoodrich Tires

Rating 4.0

BF Goodrich A/T KO2's may fit the bill, good on both trail and highway. However, they do decrease highway comfort a bit. You might also look at the BF Goodrich Trail-Terrains which are slightly less aggressive but much more comfortable on the highway. I have used and used both of these tires for years and easily get 40,000 - 50,000 miles on them.

Pros: good on trail and highway
Cons: decrease highway comfort
Mileage: 45000 km

Continental Tires
Nickshu
  • Grip:
  • Noise:
Rating 3.0

I have had the best luck w/ Michelin Pilot Sports or Super sports. I have had several sets of the Continental Sport Contacts on different cars including the Golf R and they seem to wear out early with noise and balance problems sooner than I would expect. I have never had a set last more than 20K miles before the tread was gone and/or they start having noise/balance issues. They are GREAT tires up until that point, but they don't last anywhere near their published treadlife rating.

Pros: great tires initially
Cons: wear out early, noise problems
Mileage: 32186 km

I had them on my 2013 GT. They did not hook up well, and I was stock. They were also noisy. I’d choose something else.

Cons: noisy, did not hook
Vehicle: Ford
