Koni... they transformed my Mk4 Golf into something that rode and handled better when compared to stock... The ride was stiffer, but the quality was actually better, especially on the highway. A lot of people noticed and commented on how good the car felt.

The Bilstein sports in my corrado ride nicer than stock.
I think I saw someone mention Bilstein heavy duty shocks. I also recommend them. I love the way the van rides on these, and I don't consider it harsh at all.
I've had Konis under my 2001 T4 for a while now....my feeling is that they work very well in the front but I'm less convinced in the rear...
Remove one of the clamps holding the rack and as I recall, loosen the other one or perhaps remove it as well (been over 10 years since I last did it). Then pull the rack away from the firewall, loosen the jam nut and screw in the adjuster a little. Will probably take you a few times to get the feel of the adjustment.
There are three settings for the Bilstein Damptronic shocks: R, Sports and Comfort.
So I dumped the KONI Sport and opted for the Bilstein HD with stock springs and a rear bar. What a dramatic difference, still a comfortable ride and very tight around corners.
Brand New adjustable Koni Reds w/ Neuspeed Sofsport Mild-Lowering Springs, new bump stops and bushings.........rears are installed, fronts need to be installed
I've had Bilstein Sports in the front and Bilstein HD in the back on my B4 PASSAT WAGON. Th eride was way too firm.
DO NOT -- DO NOT get them -- you would be better off replacing your shocks with 2X4s... they are the harshest ride ever -- even on the softest setting.
