Mahle Oil filter

I own a f30 (330d) and have done my own oil changes for the past 9 years and change oil every 7k miles. I started out using 0w-20 oil till around 60k mileage. I then switched to 5w30 from 60k mileage for engine longevity. I’ve always used Mahle filters on my car. Mann and Bosch are good alternatives to use too. As my F30 sits quite low I have always jacked it off the ground so I can get access to the sump plug. Also remember to change the washer from the sump plug during every oil change.

Pros: easy oil changes, long engine life
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 7000 km

JS ASAKASHI Oil filter

I use for air/cabin/oil filters, they sell real Japanese JS Asakashi, even with shipping it's still cheaper then buying overpriced Ryco rubbish from SCA or Ripoffco local price for oil filters is often $30 to 40!!

Pros: cheaper even with shipping
Cons: overpriced Ryco rubbish

Wix Oil filter

Both Wix and Purolator are made by the same company, Mann & Hummel so the top of the line filters (Purolator Boss & Wix XP) are about identical. IDK about the 20k mile one, haven't touched it yet but it should be on par or better than the Boss.

You can't go wrong with either as they are some of my favorite filters on the market due to how clean the internal construction & how solid the material quality is. The highest end Frams are fine to run but still not as good as Wix or Purolator, and nothing below Frams highest line is worth running imo.

Pros: clean construction, solid quality
Vehicle: Nissan

Wix Oil filter

Wix everything. It's the only filter I use in mine and customer cars. I've probably used 3,000 + over the last 20 years

Pros: reliable, consistent quality

GENERAL MOTORS Oil filter

I use an extension and swivel. I put the new O ring on the oil filter cap. Fifth, I install the new filter onto the cap. I'm not sure about your model with some Encore years, GM used two different oil filters. Your cap will tell you which one to use (UFI v. Hengst). Make sure you get the right one.

Pros: new filter onto cap
Cons: GM used two filters

Fram Oil filter
briano1234
  • Warning light:
Rating 1.0

I agree with the 20W50 and good filter stay away from Fram, Bosch and Generic or Store Branded filters as they will give you the blinky oil light at idle controlled by the Canned Sensor on the right side of the head as you look at the engine.

Pros: good filter, correct oil
Cons: blinky oil light
