VALVOLINE Engine oil

I think that as a general rule you want a motorcycle specific oil in your primary because of specific additives in it for a wet motorcycle clutch. Just don't use a super slick oil like the Valvoline VR1 Racing blue sapphire stuff.

Pros: motorcycle specific oil
Cons: super slick oil

Motorex Engine oil

I use Motorex semi-synthetic 4t in all of my KTM's over the years in a 15w50 weight. It has never been an issue. I have used Motul 5100 and 7100 in other bikes before, and I prefer the 7100 over the 5100. It feels like the bikes perform better when the temps rise and I'm really riding them hard.

Pros: bikes perform better

Shell Engine oil

Why spend more when you can buy Shell Helix Ultra FS 5w40 from Lotus's, Giant or Aeon Big for half the price or less compared bought in petrol stations.

Pros: half the price
Cons: spend more

Mobil Engine oil
Phaeton4me
  • Exhaust smoke:
Rating 4.0

The newer 2.0TSI engines used a low friction oil scraper ring so they seem to use more oil than earlier engines. If not abused, then should be ok if you maintain the oil level.

Pros: ok if maintain oil level
Cons: use more oil
Mileage: 245000 km

VALVOLINE Engine oil

Rating 5.0

I recommend valvoline syn power mst C3 for Renault diesel engines with dpf filter. Low saps oil which will produce less carbon in your engine. I have 110hp version of 1.5dci and use this oil for last 6 years. Never had a problem and oil consumption is minimal

Pros: minimal oil consumption, no problems

AMSOIL Engine oil

Being an AMSOIL dealer and my enthusiast knowledge of vehicles (not a master by any means), I would say that the consumption is very normal due to the very thin viscosity of 0w-20 oil.

Pros: consumption is very normal
Cons: thin viscosity of 0w-20

Husqvarna Engine oil

The husky oil has a tendency to leave a pretty nasty, sticky carbon coating on the piston rather quickly so I would probably avoid that.

Cons: nasty, sticky carbon coating
