K&N Cabin filter

Been using it for the past 10 years on my Toyota. You must wash it only one way. Cannot have the water flow through it both ways. Also there is a k&n spray (pink/hot red) that you spray on the filter again every time you wash it. To me it's worth it

Pros: worth it, long lasting
Cons: one way water flow
Vehicle: Toyota

Rating 4.5

we have one. i just washed it. i use the dawn powerwash spray. first, tap against a hard object like the wall, to get out the big stuff, then spray, rinse. comes out nice and white/clean. then i hit it with my ryobi blower to push out all the excess water, and put it back. you might notice a slight increase in airflow thru the vents. i have been using the k&n cabin filters on several cars, they work well

Pros: easy to clean, increased airflow

OEM Toyota Cabin filter

Where I live, my best choices are the Toyota discount charcoal cabin air filter at the parts counter for $44 CAD (#87139-YZZ93, YZZ means "value" or approved 3rd party rebranded as Toyota, only $4 more than aftermarket non-charcoal).

Pros: discount, charcoal
Vehicle: Toyota Corolla
Part number: 87139-YZZ93

OEM Mazda Cabin filter

On certain mazdas (like my 2006, 2008.5 Mazda3, and 2015 Mazda5) it's NOT a 2 min job. It requires 2-3 hr yoga session to warm up to prep for the job, then another 2hrs trying to get in the right position as to not cramp up while trying to position 2 filters on top of each other in a space that only small children hands can access

Cons: difficult to access
Vehicle: Mazda

OEM Mazda Cabin filter

Unnecessary. A few years ago a Mazda dealership suggested a bunch of work to me when I went in for an oil change, including some stuff I had done on my own literally a week before. I got a survey from Mazda and complained on it that they were suggesting bogus things that I know for a fact did not need to be done (e.g. they claimed my cabin air filter and engine air filter were dirty, despite being brand new).

Cons: bogus things suggested
Vehicle: Mazda
