Get new moog ball joints.
Moog parts K80026.. Harbor Freight press. The ball joint is pre greased that’s why the end looks like that. Turns out the top joint was bad. Got a replacement & everything worked. Now the ABS light is turned on and off.
Ive done this. That doesnt look seated. Isnt there a snap ring that secures that? How are you getting the pats in and out? I used a hydraulic press to get them apart, then used a Harbor Freight screw press to put them in. I think I had to clean up the holes with emery paper or a sanding drum and drill to get the joints to seat. I used Moog parts.
Ive had greasable Detroit Axle ball joints for over 50k miles now. I just grease them regularly and test them with the vehicle in the air and they are still perfect. Same brand tie rods all around. I haven't found oem ball joints from Toyota that are greasable and for that reason i wont get them (if someone sells them or finds them ill gladly buy them) In my experience, self greasable ball joints last longer than non serviceable oem with regular maintenance but thats my experience.
My S60 is literally eating those ball joints. Had the same happening to mine (bit it dented the wheel arch too). Replaced the ball joint. After like a year brought the car to repair shop for a check up before a holiday and the fucker was bad in the right side. Now I hear clunking again (btw it never really went away, despite changing almost everything in the suspension)... Gonna check it tomorrow.
My '09 Impreza had a clunk after installing MOOG ball joints and it turned out that the bore on one side wasn't tight enough/the part was too small, allowing it to move up and down against the retaining bolt.
except the ball joints. replace those son bitches with some sealed/permagreased. i am in a 2012.
Dodnes s láskou spomínam na blbé čapy z Nissanu, kde sa kvôli nim muselo meniť celé rameno ako celok, stálo to pätikilo a čakal som na diel cca mesiac.
in the 3rd gen 4Runner (96-02) community, Moogs have a well deserved reputation of being hot garbage. The design of the front steering/suspension is such that when the lower ball joints give up, the spindle comes detached and causes the front wheel to basically do whatever it wants, with subsequent loss of vehicle control. There are many many reports of Moogs failing with 20-30k.
