Semperit Tires

For mild winters without mountains and snow, quality all-seasons are the best option

Otherwise, for winter have a look at SEMPERIT SPEED-GRIP 5: they are better than Kumho/Nexen/Firestone, almost premium quality as Michelin/Continental

Pros: almost premium quality
Cons: better than Kumho/Nexen/Firestone

I use Semperit Speed Grip 3 205/45 R17 on my MK8 and i must say im quite suprised how good they work for the price. The only downside is that they are pretty loud while driving

Pros: good for the price
Cons: pretty loud

Blizzak is always good. If temps go below 7 degrees celcius, its clever to use winter. I am usin semperit speedgrip 5 personally because it was cheap and good tire. Not the best but not expensive either. Its been good so far but haven't snow yet

Pros: cheap and good tire
Cons: not the best

I had the semperits on all last winter (205/55/16) on Montreal I's and I thought they were great - I go skiing alot - excellent traction in snow - as they should but also they were good when it wasn't snowing - they have a higher speed rating, T or H - good in corners, straight line stability, quiet too.

Pros: excellent traction in snow, good in corners

I have a set of Semperit snows. Unfortunately, I don't think you can find them any more, because Continental was closing out that line last year. I've always tried to use European snow tires, like Gislaved, Vredestein, or Nokian, because they seem to do better in nasty weather, and are reasonably quiet on long commutes.

Pros: quiet on long commutes
