the hot ticket was to replace the stock horn with a VW bug horn. They're only a little larger, require no other modifications, and are noticeably louder and "brighter."

On my 2012 Volkswagen Passat s it had a high and a low horn. I ended up added 2 high and 2 low horns. Every time I honked it at someone it scared the living daylights out of them.
My low tone horn (the high-mounted one) faild and was recently replaced by the dealer. The high note alone sounds weird!
That's where I got my new horn from, very reasonable price for a new original VW part!
AWFUL. I have one. Bought it two years ago, 2011 Jetta 2.5SE (had 14k on it when I bought it) and its the worst car I have ever driven. I needed to get something quick because my truck was on its way out, this was cheap figured why not save on gas and try it out. Man, I cannot begin to explain to you how badly I have regretted this. 20k Horn Blew out and needed to be replaced 25k Radio blew out, needed to be replaced 30k AC Compressor stopped working and needed to be replaced. 40k Rear right window motor stopped working and needed to be replaced. Couldn't rotate the tires due to them wearing down weirdly and when rotated would cause a vibration. No matter what they did. Everything Rattles, and when I say everything, I mean, EVERYTHING. This will be my last VW ever, worst purchase I have ever made. Just leased a new GC and will be trading this in and never looking back. STAY AWAY.
On Thanksgiving vacation so finally got a chance to search the Phaeton forum about the weak sounding horn I have on mine. I see that others have had the same experience. I must resolve this because well...frankly the sound of the horn is embarrassing to say the least, not to mention unsafe. Beautiful big car with beep-beep horn?? My VW Golf has a horn that sounds much more manly than my Phaeton, LOL!
