For me, the Golf is one of the best all-around vehicles on the market today, offering a very reasonable price point for its capabilities. I have taken my Rs to the track one day and then embarked on a 4,000 km road trip the next. I put over 100,000km on my first R (Mk7) in under a year. It saw the drag strip every Tuesday, AutoX events every Wednesday and Saturday, and HPDEs once a month. When it comes to the injectors, I highly recommend you get OEM VW. I've had issues with the OEM/OES injectors. Enough, that I rather pay the 100 +/- difference and get them with the VW stamp of approval.

Alternator stopped charging while driving and it slung grease all over the engine bay and hood.

My 2024 does this when the weather fluctuates, it clears up after a bit once the weather stabilizes or the mid morning sun hits it. I was also told it's normal to an extent, fog or light condensation will clear up. Was told to let them know if it looks like water is running down inside, streaking, doesn't clear up, puddles, or if the whole thing fogs up, then the overall seal has failed or is faulty.

New Beetles are definitely underrated. They do have some weak points though. The Turbo S brakes are barely adequate for touge.

The default setting for the headlights were adjusted as high as they went. Annoyingly you couldn't change it whilst driving, you had to root around in the infotainment.
