I went with moog when I lifted my truck almost 40k miles ago by now. I’m not saying everyone else is wrong with OEM, but I’m not dead yet
Moog's... they are serving me well.
Pro tip get moog or comprable parts. The cheap stuff uses nylon to hold in the ball socket like tie rods. Moog uses brass, or atleast used to.
Get Moog or Mevotech Supreme and install them correctly - torque to spec with the LCA under load - and they're gonna last a good long time.
I've used Moog "problem solver" ones. Lately Moog quality hasn't been what I remember.
in the 3rd gen 4Runner (96-02) community, Moogs have a well deserved reputation of being hot garbage. The design of the front steering/suspension is such that when the lower ball joints give up, the spindle comes detached and causes the front wheel to basically do whatever it wants, with subsequent loss of vehicle control. There are many many reports of Moogs failing with 20-30k.
I installed Moog ball joints before I did any research. They were shot when I went to replace them with OEM at about 7K miles.
WIFE HAD TIEROD ENDS COME LOOSE.
After what I went through on a work truck last time I used Moog TREs, I went back to Motorcraft only.
