I personally run in-tank Delphi fuel pumps, one in each tank.

I am on my third one since Jul. Had a freshly rebuilt q-jet (quadrajetpower) installed and the the first pump started to leak. Got a Delphi from Napa—there’s two different fuels pumps for emission vs no emission. First Delphi—non emission-installed and ran good for a bit. I did the grease the rod, push it in, installed pump. A few weeks later it stopped. I pulled it and the lever was bent. Second was another Delphi but the the one for the emissions. Drove it and one day it left me stranded and would pump fuel. Lucky I ordered a Carter off amazon. I swapped that one in and I get good fuel to carb.
it's a great aftermarket part(Rockauto). The wire harness so far for me hasn't given me major issues. I will say make sure the mechanic or you know how to install that correctly. The reason why I state this the last fuel pump job I had done my mechanic did make a mistake and wired it wrong causing a wire burn later on. Luckily he's not a asshole and fixed it for free since it was his fault. Traffic here is ass so the pump does get it's fair Share of work.
Mine went out at 270,00 on my 2002 Tahoe oem Delphi
installed a delphi, the 5.3 starts on 1st crank everytime now.
Mine was broken delivered and I had to remove it again. Only found out once I tried starting the engine…
I let them replace the pump with a Delphi unit I ordered from Partsgeek. They couldn't get it started because the security light was flashing. They left and after leaving the car to sit for half an hour it started right up. Immediately ran rough. Kinda worse than before, still feels fuel starved.
It was indeed my fuel pump, I tried changing the filter first and replacing some dry rotted evap hoses but that only gave me better gas milage. After pulling the old fuel pump the filter that was attached to it was filled to the brim and the pump housing had trash all over the bottom. I likely could've cleaned it out and replaced the filter but id already purchased a new one and figured I might as well swap them. I used the Delphi pump from autozone, and it was much easier than expecting after watching a few youtube videos on it. now I've gotta do it all again anyway because I installed the floater wrong and my gas needle is stuck, oh well thats what I get for rushing to do it before work.
I wound up completely rebuilding everything but the long block and transmission. I would recommend fuel pump (Delphi is the best option)
I bought an even cheaper one for $99 on amazon, it’s a Delphi which is a well know brand in the GM world. So far it hasn’t failed me.
