These were actually alright spark plugs. The ceramic is a lot tougher than normal ceramic, and the electrode is larger. They were marketed as 'truck plugs', but they're really good in old tractors and farm equipment. They last forever.
I knew the original battery in my '08 R32 was getting weak by the difficulty it had cranking the engine, but it always started, even through this past winter (175K miles). Went to unlock it after work on a Friday and the car was dead...seems I left the headlights on, and even though the car shuts them off automatically after a while, the battery was so shot that it completely died. Two Triple-A guys came to give me a jump; the first wasn't strong enough and the relay just buzzed, the second had more powerful equipment and got me going. It started the next morning, and I headed to Pep Boys for a new Champion AGM battery, which works great now.
For spark, I wasn't sure I had the right plugs so I went with the OEM Champion plugs that were recommended in the Bentley. I checked for spark, no issues there.
Replace those plugs with nothing other than the Champion 7989 plugs. They are about $14 each and they are a 1 piece design.
I too happen to have the champion plugs that iceman has. Happened because Murray's didn't have the dealer only replacement plug and couldn't get them. I had no choice because the stock ones were blacker than my tires. They rev just fine and seem to run just as well. I was told that a long time ago champions were known to become permanantly stuck in the block though. I plan on changing soon just in case that rumor is true.
Champion is shit for cars. Leave it for mowers and weed eaters.
I would return them and get Motorcraft anyway. Champion is garbage.
Champion plugs are barely adequate for a lawnmower...
Champions are crap.
