My X3 windshield was like $2500 with BMW glass. Cheap aftermarket glass was only a few hundred dollars. I pushed my insurance to pay for the real deal.
Just had mine replaced through the dealership. I could've used safelight, but I didn't want to chance any issues with the HUD, etc.
I had to replace my X3 M40i and opted for the OEM windshield to ensure none of the above is compromised. It’s also the most visible and most used while driving so I personally wouldn’t cut corners for this.
If done properly, the vacuum works well. I used to do it on my E36 BMW for years. It does suck out pretty much all oil, I checked it by unscrewing the oil pan plug after the oil had been sucked out.
2014 F30 with N26 engine. 157K miles on original timing chain and BMW tech just inspected chain and guide after removing valve cover and said both are good.
I just shopped around for the brake pads for my 2 series, got the front ones done for £150. It was a trusted garage and they inspected the large m sport discs and said there was life for another set of pads on them after this new set. I’m also quite a light braker, so discs and pads tend to last me a long time.
The glass is not great, at least that’s been my experience for my M3. It’s gotten to the point that I’m getting too good at those repair kits.
We were on our way back from a daytrip when the M3's alternator decided to give up the ghost about 1.5 hours from home.
the brakes just didn't like slowing from 140 to 90, even though that's something I regularly do on the highway - it doesn't like it then either, but it was scarier on track. What I mean by "the brakes didn't like it" is that after one or maximum 2 hard brakes, the pedal and steering wheel transmit a horrible vibration everytime I even touch the brakes, and this goes on until I presume the brakes have either cooled off, or the rotors have bent themselves back into shape.
bmw makes a sad excuse of a cooling system with brittle plastic, sad plastic joins and a pathetic plastic and metal radiator, like that's gonna last
