Got some NGK Ruthenium HX plugs at NAPA this morning. Miss is gone, car runs perfectly again. Plus they're cheaper and supposedly will last longer than the platinums.
Volkswagen Passat parts reviews
So, back to Kumho I went for my 2017 Passat. This time, I really looked at customer feedback and choose the highest rated ones, the Kumho Majesty 9 Solus line. All season radial. So many people who had Audi, BMW, and Lexus swore by them. Got 'em on with a front end alignment of course. OMG! This is the quietest this car has ever driven. It glides along the road. We can whisper in the car and hear each other.
But you have to make a differential between Meyle standard and Meyle HD, it's night and day difference in quality, all HD parts have a 4 year guarantee, I think the regular have 1 year. I have a few years of experience when it comes to quality of control arms
My 2008 3.6 Passat had been throwing CELs for fuel pressure off and on for a while. Then last week the N276 (Fuel Pressure Regulator valve in the High Pressure Fuel Pump) revealed itself as the source of the problem by failing completely. I got tons of misfires and surging on cold starts since the pressure in the fuel rail wasn't being regulated and maintained properly. Otherwise the job was pretty straightforward. I got a Hitachi HPP0014 from RockAuto as a replacement HPFP (original was a Hitachi as well). The plug for the N276 had a little gas in it, confirming that the N276 had failed internally at 15 years/125,000mi.
I use PIAA silicone rubber wiper blades on my cars, they work great and last for years.
I went ahead and replaced all 4 coil packs and plugs as well as the PCV valve. Since I have to order parts, it seemed faster than checking the plugs and swapping coil packs, as well as good insurance, since the coil packs and PCV valve were (over)due for replacement anyway. It took about an hour without rushing. Took about a 30-minute test drive, highway and town, and the engine's running smoothly. Ran a scan when I got home, and no new fault codes, so I cleared them all out and the check engine light went out.
On a other note, the Indy 500s are a great tire. 90% of the grip of the Pilot Sports for a fraction of the price.
I've had cheap Kumho ECSTA AST's. That you get what you paid for, when money is tight. Their ECSTA Platinum LX was a much better tire, and actually didn't have wear issues which the PQ46 chassis is known for (feathering). Decent grip.
I had the same issue back in the day with my wife's 2012 Passat. They were just too big exactly like the picture shows. After that mess, I just started buying wipers from the dealer.
I have to literally remove the nose of my B5 1.8T Passat to get at my water pump. Second one in 110,000 miles.
