STOPTECH Brake pads

Rating 4.5

I've got the TTRS brakes on my mk6. Good OEM+ option for you mk6 and mk7 guys. Direct bolt on. They help out a lot on the track. Stoptech pads for street and carbotech xp10 on track. EVO and STI pads fit as well.

Pros: good OEM+ option, good track performance

I also upgraded brakes to Optimal brand e-cote rotors and EBC Red street/performance pads. A nice improvement in brake feel and the new rotors look better, but hardly necessary.

Pros: improved brake feel
Cons: hardly necessary

EBC Brake pads

Mine were equally grooved, if not more so. The stock pads have a high metal content and this eats away at the rotors. I recently changed my front rotors and pads for Stoptech Slotted + EBC red ceramic pads. Rotors are noticeably higher quality, and the pads are pretty good as well, though they dust considerably more than my stock ones did.

Pros: rotors higher quality, pads pretty good
Cons: pads dust considerably more

OK lets stir it up. I have a 2017 R and like many of you the dust on the front brakes was awful. So I decided to get EBC REDS. Great pad very low dust (still some) but bedding them in probably like most was a puss on reak in.

Pros: very low dust, great pad
Cons: bedding them in
Mileage: 6000 km

I just installed them on Saturday and I'm really liking it so far. Very linear feeling as well, and similar to stock, but less grabby out of the gate. The one main thing I noticed today is that my wheels aren't caked with brake dust, as they usually are with just one day of driving in stop and go LA traffic!

Pros: linear feeling, less dust
Cons: similar to stock

EBC Brake pads

fast road pads like EBC Greens are actually slower to operate from cold. So much so that I nearly failed to stop for a pedestrian crossing one cold morning soon after start up. I simply wasn't expecting my pads to be so bad first thing. With the soft stock pads you get an intial bite that you don't get with fast road pads. This is a world away from the EBC Greens on 280mm brakes that used to get totally chewed up in one day at Sandown. Or the EBC Reds that disintegrated entirely.

Cons: slower to operate cold, no initial bite, chewed up on track
