OEM Toyota Starter motor
usernamesareclass
  • Cranking:
  • Sounds:
Rating 5.0

I just replaced my starter motor on my N210 4Runner. What you're experiencing is identical - battery is fine, clicking + no start. I replaced a door actuator just prior and had disconnected the Negative on the battery as part of the door sensing sequence and it seemed to awaken my starter issue. I too had periodic starting to none.

Pros: fixed starting issue
Cons: periodic starting problems

OEM Toyota Drive shaft

4th gen is notorious for drive shaft clunk, needs greasing about every other oil change. Grease completely makes it go away, for me at least.

Pros: grease makes clunk go away
Cons: drive shaft clunk

NGK Spark plug
MasterDonJ
  • Acceleration:
Rating 5.0

I had this very same problem where on my 07 V6 the acceleration and power was off. I had replaced my spark plugs with NGK Iridium plugs and after dealing with the horrible performance I decided to change them out for OEM platinum (copper) plugs. This made a huge difference and could immediately tell a night and day difference. Regained the torque and power that was missing.

Pros: Regained torque and power
Cons: horrible performance

Cooper Tires
crawler54
  • Grip:
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 4.5

cooper stt pros were some of the lightest 37" offroad tires on the market... stt pro in that size are e-rated, which is fine with me because i've had to deal with sliced sidewalls on other brands... it is an aggressive tread.

Pros: lightweight, aggressive tread, strong sidewall

OEM Toyota Timing belt
wimploaf
  • Starting:
Rating 3.0

This was the most frustrating repair I've ever done. I've done plenty of timing belt/chain jobs before but this one sucked.

You can't tell if the timing marks are lined up, the belt doesn't have marks on it and no where on line tells you how many belt teeth there should be from one mark to the others to check your work. I buttoned it up and was off a tooth on the driver's side, I could have set the truck on fire. It worked fine after I did the job a second time.

Pros: worked fine after second try
Cons: frustrating repair, hard to align
