I'm using Valvoline 0W-20 Restore and Protect, changing every 4,000 miles. '23 OBW, 56,000 miles. FYI, I did an oil analysis at my last oil change. Wear numbers were excellent, less than 1.5 ppm/1,000 miles. 3 iron, 2 aluminum, 1 copper over 4,128 miles. Fuel dilution was HIGH though, at 4.3%. They expect 1.5- 1.8% for direct injection turbos. According to the Motor Oil Geek, less than 5ppm/1,000 miles is considered good. I do a fair number of short trips, but also some longer runs. I'm going to go to max of 4,000 miles due to the gas dilution.
Subaru Outback parts reviews
3 years ago I went to scout a trout lake... my absolutely stock OBW (save for tires, have Falken Wildpeak AT-Trails) handles it like an absolute champ. I thought for sure that I'd break something, but the car came out identical to how it came in, save for being much dirtier.
Moved here from Ontario last month and bought my first pair of proper winter tires, studded Nokian Hakkas. Legit night and day difference from the all seasons I had before on my AWD Outback
I loved the Cross climate 2 tires on my outback. Great in the rain and snow.
I ran the Toyo ATIIIs on my Tacoma and they worked almost as well as my Blizzaks I have on my Outback. But doing it again is get Wildpeaks, which a ton of my friends have, far quieter ride.
Battery didn't outright die but it was weaker starting and with winter coming I didn't want to trust it.
I own a 2019 OB Touring with six cylinders. I’m the original owner. I’ve had numerous battery issues, but SOA replaced the DCM Module two years ago, and the battery has been working well so far. In April 2025, SOA also replaced my head unit at no cost to me. Additionally, there was a fuel pump recall several years ago. I get service at a local Subaru dealer, and I’ve been happy with their service. However, the windshields broke once from a stone hitting it, and they’re known for having low-quality windshields. So, I have insurance that covers a 50-dollar copay. Fuel economy isn’t the best, but I enjoy driving it and feel safe in it. Overall, I’m pleased with my car, and the biggest problem was my battery issues, which have been resolved for two years.
First battery lasted about a year and a half.
i drive a 13 outback and the headlights are fucking PITIFUL. i drive with my brights on at night and i have never once been flashed
Not even 6 months into it the head gasket exploded and the engine was completely fucked.
