Sachs Clutch kit
Standard-Country8407
  • Slip:
  • Engagement smoothness:
Rating 5.0

Sachs 764 Pressure Plate & Sachs 098 Friction Disc paired with a DMFW is what is colloquially referred to as the Sachs 2.5 "kit". ( it's not an actual "kit" but it's a time honored upgrade for 550+ hp Porsche 996 TT.

I've run stock Sachs also with an unsprung GT2 disc. But my car at 550/575 whp likes this setup ^.

I'm on my 3rd clutch = 17+ years.

Pros: time honored upgrade, handles high HP
Vehicle: Porsche
Part number: 764, 098

OEM Porsche Air suspension
Zealousideal-Hippo79
  • Leveling under load:
Rating 4.5

Air suspension is also not as scary as other euro rigs, the bags have steel cases, all the lines are standard 6mm and a rebuild kit for the compressor is only 100-200 bucks, it also makes these the ultimate tow rigs, heaps of torque and a very stable towing experience.

Pros: steel cases, easy to rebuild, stable towing
Vehicle: Porsche Cayenne

OEM Porsche Fuel pump

Porsche Australia is brilliant with parts. We needed a fuel pump for a 1974 911 which was only made for about three years and they offered to get one made at a price that wasn’t too unreasonable. In the end we rebuilt what we had. I have yet to find a part that they can’t supply except doors for a 928. And they have world pricing, so a genuine Porsche part costs the same here as say in the US.

Pros: excellent parts availability, reasonable price, world pricing
Vehicle: Porsche 911

OEM Porsche Brake pads

My 993 C4S with “big reds” squealed when I did a brake job using aftermarket pads (Textar OEM replacements). After putting up with it for a few years, I swapped them back to Porsche Genuine pads. Squeal was gone instantly.

Pros: squeal was gone
Cons: squealed when braking
Vehicle: Porsche

Brembo Brake pads

My 986S with fairly worn out pads/rotors squealed really bad. Finally put new Brembo pads/rotors on and it’s been silent as a church mouse ever since.

Pros: silent as a church mouse
Cons: squealed really bad
Vehicle: Porsche

OEM Porsche Brake pads

I found the GT3’s brakes to be very easy to modulate. They bite very quickly for carbon ceramics and give you the impression that they could bail you out of most situations. Since the GT3 feels so damn planted, braking also feels like a total non-event. You don’t feel the weight shifting forward in a dramatic fashion or anything like that, brake engagement feels very immediate.

Pros: easy to modulate, immediate engagement
Vehicle: Porsche 911

WeatherTech Floor mat
bonestamp
  • Fit:
  • Grip:
  • Cleanability:
Rating 3.0

How do you like the WeatherTech floormats? What material are they? I ask because I've only had one set of weathertechs and I did not like them, found them to be very hard plastic compared to the softer sort of rubber OEM weather mats I've gotten from BMW and Porsche.

Cons: very hard plastic

OEM Porsche Cardan shaft

Watch out for the cardon shaft replacement, coolant hose replacement, the entire roof fabric replacement, the electrical harness turning hard like spaghetti and the soft plastic in the car all turning to sticky glue. I loved driving my Cayenne. V8 noise all the time. Bit pricey for maintenance.

Pros: V8 noise
Cons: costly maintenance, cardan shaft issues, coolant hose issues, roof fabric issues, electrical harness
Vehicle: Porsche Cayenne

OEM Porsche Tires

Lol as someone who comes from a Porsche owning family, the 265 tires up front and 295 in the back will automatically bankrupt you. Nothing like looking for a winter set of tires and wheels knowing you have to get Audi spec 5x112 wheels with tires wider than dump trucks that are triple the cost of 17 inch 225 tires with half the life.

Cons: expensive tire replacement
Vehicle: Porsche
