OPTIMA Battery

I have a red top in my XJ and people say the quality has gone down every time Optima is mentioned but I've had nothing but stellar performance from mine. I was about 7 miles in on a trail 2 weeks ago and my alt died. The battery got me back to the main road before it died enough to not run the engine anymore. A little more than an hour back out and some gnarly rock crawling.

Pros: stellar performance, reliable power

Cooper Tires

Go with the Cooper STT Pros. I had them on my Liberty in 32s and now on my XJ in 37s. Awesome tire, I daily drive my XJ so wet street traction was a big thing for me. I've had no issues in the snow, wet, dry, mud, sand, rocks. They are also a very quiet tire. They'll last a while too.

Pros: quiet tire, good traction

The 065 is basically like a stock clutch kit. I have the 065 behind my 01' XJ 4.0L linked with an ax-15.

Pros: like stock clutch kit
Vehicle: Jeep Cherokee

BFGoodrich Tires
DanG
  • Noise:
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 4.5

I had KO2's on my JK Wrangler and they were great. I had the e rated ones, so they were stiffer than the factory Bridgestone DD's but no noisier with the top on or off. I found Duratrac's get noisier as they wear, the BFG's didn't.

Pros: no noisier with top on
Cons: stiffer than factory

Rating 5.0

I had previous versions on my grand Cherokee (31s) and loved them absolutely unstoppable in the snow. and have the current version on my TJ (\"35s\") and love them as well. Not as aggressive looking as the GY MT/RS I had on for a little while before them but much smoother and quieter.

Pros: smoother and quieter
Cons: not as aggressive looking

Bilstein Shock absorbers

Bilstein is my go-to, Sachs or KYB if I can't get Bilstein; Bilstein 5100s on my WJ are great, 5100 coilover's I had on a Tundra were great; 4600s I had on a Tacoma were great.

Pros: great, go-to
Vehicle: Jeep Grand Cherokee

Goodyear Tires

I have these on my JKU and they are OK. They do well on snow, but on wet roads they can break free pretty easily .

Pros: do well on snow
Cons: break free on wet

OEM Jeep Brake pads
dwagner88
  • Braking:
Rating 2.0

My dad's 1978 CJ5 has manual brakes and steering. It's pretty terrifying to drive though. The steering isn't so bad, but those brakes are scary. I keep my following distances up to snowstorm levels when I'm driving it.

Cons: brakes are scary
Vehicle: Jeep

OPTIMA Battery
quattro B6
  • Cranking:
Rating 1.0

I had an optima yellow top in my Jeep for 3 years. Then all of a sudden a cell died without warning, leaving me stranded in the desert when I went to start it. I will never buy another one. The duralast I replaced it with has been in there for about 4 years now with no problems. It also cost less than half what the optima was.

Cons: cell died without warning
Vehicle: Jeep
