Windshield Tesla or OEM Subaru

Tesla Windshield

Sounds about right. 6 weeks after I got my new 2019 M3SR+, kids were throwing rocks at cars. The Model 3 was too new for Safelite to even have windshields for it. Tesla charged $1,200 to replace it before my deductible.

Got my Outback used with 46k miles on it (23 model) and it is completely covered in tiny little chips. They don’t go through but they reflect like crazy when the sun is low. Hate it and strongly considering trying to get a new windshield. Will consider a protection film if I do that. Not bad enough to fail inspection but just one of those things that gets under my skin. Must be weaker glass- never seen that before like this

Pros: no chips go through
Cons: covered in chips, reflects sun, weaker glass
Mileage: 46000 km

Tesla Windshield

their engineering quality threshold for windshields is dismal and below that of every other car maker. It’s actually embarrassing how bad it is.

Cons: dismal quality, below industry standard, embarrassing quality

Never had a windshield that was so easy to get dinged up on. Had my M3 for less than 6 months and it’s pitted all over the place.

Cons: poor durability, easily dinged, pits quickly

Tesla Windshield

I have 2 teslas and they have a rock magnet in the windshield. Never had as many chips and cracks over 2 years as driving a Tesla.

Cons: prone to chips, prone to cracks, poor durability
