Concerns are kind of valid but in my case, I have 60k km on my 2021 Outback and have not even a nick and my other two Subarus had busted windshields within the first year. The touchscreen might not be the fastest in the industry but it's not horrible day to day and I use it a ton with Android Auto.

Pros: no nicks, touchscreen usable
Cons: touchscreen not fastest
Mileage: 60000 km

I drive my forester for work. I’ve had 2 in the past 2.5 years and have driven them a combined 110k miles. I never cracked my windshield.

Pros: never cracked, durable
Vehicle: Subaru Forester
Mileage: 110000 km

Safelite replaced mine and yes, they will use a factory Ford windshield. Took them less than an hour which included a quick drive to reset the sensors. I've had zero issues since the replacement.

Pros: zero issues, factory Ford
Vehicle: Ford

Got my Outback used with 46k miles on it (23 model) and it is completely covered in tiny little chips. They don’t go through but they reflect like crazy when the sun is low. Hate it and strongly considering trying to get a new windshield. Will consider a protection film if I do that. Not bad enough to fail inspection but just one of those things that gets under my skin. Must be weaker glass- never seen that before like this

Pros: no chips go through
Cons: covered in chips, reflects sun, weaker glass
Mileage: 46000 km

I owned my 2015 Forester for 10 years and had two windshield replacements. Replaced by Safelite but pricey because of the EyeSight stuff.

Cons: two replacements, pricey

Personally, I've got 3 chips in mine since February. And I recall the hits — they were almost inaudible and did not seem like a big deal.

Seeing these whenever I drive my almost new car is driving me nuts. But I don't want it to just happen again if I replace the windshield.

Cons: 3 chips, easily damaged

2025 Forester purchased in early June already has 2 of these chips. We have never experienced this in any of our past vehicles, including an Outback that was part of the class action class. This is an obvious quality issue.

Cons: prone to chipping, quality issue
Vehicle: Subaru Forester

OEM Subaru Windshield

I've had lots of issues with it (I've replaced 3 windshields in my first ~21 years of driving and ~10 in 10 years with the subarus with eyesight).

Cons: lots of issues, frequent replacements
Vehicle: Subaru

Man Subaru glasses probably some of the worst I've ever seen. I've owned a WRX since 2020 both VA and VB at this point I wasn't able to get 4 months into my VB before I replace the windshield.

Cons: worst glasses ever
Vehicle: Subaru
