Just got mine fixed 2 weeks ago. Initially, it was a small crack in the top-right corner, and it extended gradually until a cold morning like -5 degrees, then it cracked across the whole windshield.
Insurance covered for the OEM windshield.
One of the main reasons I'm hanging on to my 2017 250. It's a Lariat and has some features like backup camera and some other useless features that I don't use. Hell I don't even have my phone hooked up to it. Plus it's paid off 4 years now and only has 83k miles on it. Why take on another payment.
My wife's 2018 Explorer has all the bells and whistles and I can't stand it. Her windshield has sensors in it and costs $1200 to replace it.
First road trip the window developed a stress crack with no sign of impact on/near the crack. Dealership took pics and submitted to Subaru. They decided to cover a new windshield under warranty (as they should).
Mine was delaminating with 38k miles Subaru replaced it even though I was out of the warranty time period
Subaru glass is really thin especially if you have eyesight. Not good in a low car but it is what it is.
i wish i knew forester windshields chip and crack easily. my 24 forester limited has 26k miles on it. there's three large chips in the windshield and hundreds of small flecks missing.
My Ford Tourneo Connect has developed a fault where the windshield is detaching from the bonding material, a major safety hazard. I've contacted Ford Motor Company in Spain, but they insist there is no recall for my specific vehicle, despite similar issues and a previous recall for the panoramic roof glass using similar bonding.
This has been an issue since the early 2000s the F250s have that same issue my California truck only place it has any body rust is here found it when I changed the windshield and evidence of ingress. No damage thankfully but ford just cannot seal truck windshields properly.
A poorly placed windshield sealant line on my 2020 F-150 led to water leaks in the bottom passenger side corner, dripping onto the BCM. My windshield guy found the sealant bead run right over the corner, a factory kludge, causing BCM issues.
