Safelite replaced it with genuine Ford OEM glass, complete with the 75th Anniversary badging on the glass. The guy that did my glass was an absolute pro, and I can't tell the difference between the original and replacement.
I had to replace mine after a rock chip turned into a crack on a snow trip. Used safelite and the came to my office and did exact OEM replacement and calibration. It actually came out better as my original had a giant Ford sticker lol.
My 2025 Ford Escape Hybrid currently has a chip
This happens all the time to my Forester. My belief is the angle of the windshield must make for an extremely weak spot in that area as that’s where most of mine have begun. After the third replacement in less than two years I stopped.
my windshield on my 22 Forester has cracked due to a rock for the 3rd year in a row. Both previous times I have gotten OEM replacements, since I have been paranoid that third party wouldn’t have the Subaru logo. I was not driving fast on the highway and I wasn’t behind a truck. I even have a windshield tint so it’s even more annoying.
I had my first windshield replacement for my '23 crosstrek in April 2024. Just found another crack this morning. I'm over this car, 30 plus years of driving cars and all of a sudden I need two windshields replaced.
My windshield split after the most minor rock chip. Subaru is most likely skimping on glass integrity in order to offset the camera cost and functionality. Subaru, for being a brand that models itself off of being an outdoorsy car manufacturer, should do more to either impress upon their customers the vulnerability of the material they use, or come up with a stronger composition in their glass. Definitely the last Subaru I’ll ever purchase.
I had the windshield in my 2016 Outback replaced a few months ago at my Subaru dealer. It has now cracked down from the top middle center with no impact. It's a clean break. It's the OEM glass that sucks.
Subaru glass is fragile.
Our 2020 Outback just got a crack in the windshield.
