The aftermarket glass may work well - but I can tell you with great confidence that the OEM glass is much less likely to deviate from what came in your new Subaru.

Pros: OEM glass is better
Cons: aftermarket glass deviates
Vehicle: Subaru

I got a crack in my windshield the first weekend of driving my Outback in 2017. A huge rock was kicked up on the interstate, I think most cars would’ve had the same result as my car.

Cons: windshield cracked easily

Don't get the OEM glass. That shit is brittle. I made the mistake of going OEM last year and barely made it 7 months before it needed to be replaced again. I'm almost certain the OEM glass would have cracked.

Cons: brittle, short lifespan

I despise Subaru windshields with a passion. I think they make them from eggshells. NEVER a cracked windshield - in DECADES of driving hundreds of thousands of miles - for any non-Subaru vehicle OR Subaru vehicles without the acoustic glass. But 5 replacements on two cars in past 5 years.

Cons: fragile, frequent replacements

Subaru glass is trash. There's no way anyone in their right mind would ever use another subaru windshield if they weren't forced to. The OE windscreens have fine debris or bubbles or something in them that makes them look like they have been sandblasted for 200k highway miles when they're brand new. It's actually dangerous when driving into the sun. And this is the case on every one of their models. Subaru glass is total trash.

Cons: trash, dangerous, sandblasted look
Vehicle: Subaru

I had a rock thrown and couldn't see where it hit because it was right under a wiper blade. Next morning after sun hit it, the fucking crack was 2' long in every direction. Didn't even have a chance to get a repair... Place that replaced it, couldn't get the eyesight to calibrate, so had no cruise control for a month as they waited for an OEM to replace the replacement. Dropped it for replacement and 4 hours later they said, we got it to calibrate, no need to replace. three months later, another rock and shattered. They seem fragile as fuck.

Cons: fragile, shattered easily, calibration issues
Vehicle: Subaru Forester

There are ongoing known issues with Forester windshields being extremely fragile. Unfortunately, they’re also very expensive to replace because the Eyesight has to be recalibrated.

Cons: extremely fragile, expensive to replace
Vehicle: Subaru Forester
