I binned off my original water pump which was now made of cheese and spraying my engine bay like that and bought an SIL Saleri (Italian) pump online. Metal impeller and comes with the seals kit for it too. been perfect for years.

I also used a kit from FCP Euro about 8 years ago and it included a HEPU water pump that worked fine for 7 years until I dismantled that car.

I replaced a perfectly functioning OE Saleri at 12 years/90,000 miles. I will stick with the OE Saleri even though it has the plastic impeller.

Pros: perfectly functioning, long lifespan

Cons: plastic impeller

i replace with OE saleri pumps every so often and havent opted for a stewart pump.

I had a Saleri pump. I changed it at 100,000 in 2013 and bearing was good at around 145,000 in 2021. I inspected it with a camera. It appeared to be leaking at the gasket.

Pros: bearing was good

Cons: leaking at the gasket

I am dealing with a similar issue right now on my CJAA which I changed the timing belt in April this year. Leaking from same spot. Hepu waterpump.

The Saleri started leaking at the shaft so it wasn't an issue with the gasket. The Saleri had a plastic impeller while the OE had a metal impeller.

Pros: metal impeller OE

Cons: plastic impeller, leaking shaft

a Hepu which went seven years/60,000 miles before it started leaking. I think the additional mass of the metal impeller put more stress on the bearing and seal.

Cons: started leaking, shorter lifespan

Mileage: 96560 km
