Been on my Pierburg full metal one a few years now, no complaints
Graf has been pretty good to me.
I have the Graf brand on mine, replaced mine at around 120k miles. It’s aluminum and has aluminum impeller also.
Pierburg ONLY for water pump, no other brand is good.
with water pumps on e9x’s it’s Pierburg or bust.
I kind'a have some project and I need to use Pierburg CWA50, all I got in my country is this pump from benz (**A0005001986**), is it same model as Pierburg CWA50? Because the head pump is same but the connector is different (facing upwards). I tried to find specs from this model, the result is empty, can't find any clue about flow rate. I do have original code from Pierburg, which is **7.04933.56.0**, but can't find flow rate either.
I replaced my water pump last weekend with a new pierburg pump from ecs tuning, everything went smoothly, no leaks, etc.
Honestly, personally I wouldn't get a Pierburg. Got one, the all aluminum one and it failed right away, first day of driving. It was hard to push in the plug as well. And they are made in China these days, cheaply made it seems.
I changed the water pump on my e92 335i N54 2008 after it left me stranded 6 months ago. Approximately 2-3 months later, the car started running out of battery intermittently. At first it was once every month, then every 2 weeks, now it is every week. I've narrowed it down to the water pump staying on when I shut the car off, even when cold. The old water pump did this exact same thing before leaving me stranded. Both the old and new pumps are the all-aluminum Pierburg. I tried running the water pump test procedure with ISTA right after the pump kept running (after shutting down the car) and ISTA couldn't communicate with the pump. However, it did let me run other procedures, so that was not the problem. After letting the car sit down for 30 mins, ISTA was able to communicate with the pump and run the procedures. I have absolutely NO codes. My car does NOT have an IBS sensor, so that is not the problem. If I open a door, unlock the car, etc., the pump stops running. I'm about to purchase a new pump because I have troubleshot everything I could think of, but I can't imagine this brand new Pierburg pump is failing so prematurely (less than 5k kms).
the metal fins are spot welded like shit on these cheap metal waterpumps. my graf pump also started to leak from the weep hole after a year too
