These are good tires. I have 225/50/16's on my 2000 Passat GLS Wagon. I have about 8,000 miles so far - Wear is good, Grip is very good, Feel is good, Wet Grip is very good, breakaway has not happened so I can't comment on that. They do make some noise - if you listen you will start hearing the whine about 40-45 MPH, but it does not increase linearly from there, just kinda levels off. If you have your tunes playing you'll probably never hear them. My wife did not notice until I brought it to her attention. I had Dunlop SP8000 on for the first 38K and these tires are very good also. So far I like the FM901 just a little better, they are a little more firm on ride and feel through the steering and easily better in the wet. Turn in is more crisp with the SP8000's, but with the Passat Wagon the ratio is quite fast (probably for the lame stock tires) so I actually like the FM901's better. I can be more precise. I recommend them.

Pros: good wear, very good grip
Cons: make some noise
Mileage: 12875 km

Tirerack just imported the Yokohama AVS ES 100 in that size and that tire is rated UHP! ....And actually I got a set and put 2.ooo miles so far on them, so I could start saying that for 73$ per tire it's maybe the best you can do. The are very quiet and very sticky, and side wall is so stiff, u feel u have upgraded wheels too!

Pros: very quiet, very sticky
Mileage: 2000 km

I had 15" steelies on my car originally - ran Yoko AVS dB in 205/60/15. Gigantic improvement over the stock rubber (Goodyear Eagle LS 195/65/15). Great dry and wet traction - a lot of fun on the twisties.

Pros: great dry and wet traction

I am running 225/45/17 Dunlop FM901's. You should try a run or two with your tires at about 28 - 30 psi. See how that goes first. Then try two runs at 22-25 psi, If you see your 60' improving, and your high end not hurting too much, you can try a little lower at 20 -22 psi.

Pros: improving 60' time
Cons: high end hurting

The 17" Wheels on the MCS weigh 25 lbs. The 17" Runflats weigh 25 lbs. SO 50 lbs a corner. I went to the MINI R84 16" wheels and the Yokohama AVS ES100 205/50 R16's and saved 70 lbs of rotating weight.

Pros: saved 70 lbs
Cons: weighs 50 lbs a corner
Vehicle: MINI

Just ordered some stock size tires from Tirerack - $51/tire for Dunlop SP Sport A2 - good reviews on there and they are cheap.

Pros: good reviews, cheap

The 378's are great, very quiet and great in rain/snow (were my snows until I changed cars). The RE930's are really nice - quiet, but not as quiet as the 378's, perhaps a bit more responsive - but are a little more worn.

Pros: very quiet, great in rain/snow
Cons: a little more worn

I'll be putting on my Dunlop Winter Sport M2's in the next few weeks for the 3rd snow season and would echo INDIGO's points. I've been slightly disappointed on the snow performance as I've found quite a bit of understeer with these tires in snow.

Pros: dry and wet performance
Cons: understeer in snow

Have you ever driven a car with Yokohama A032R tires? They're extremely noisy (like an old Toyota 4x4 with big off-road tires) The only thing they're good for is roadracing in the rain, not much else. I've driven a few cars on em and i could actually feel the tread vibration in the body of the car on top of the loud roaring road noise.

Pros: good for roadracing in rain
Cons: extremely noisy, tread vibration
