Tires Toyo or Vredestein

Vredestein Tires

I bought Vredestein Wintrac Pro and have really liked them. I live in western Massachusetts and have a very long gravel driveway up a steep hill. The tires are great and get very good ratings.

Pros: really liked them, tires are great

Vredestein Tires

Had the Wintrac Pro on my Type R for the past 5 winters and drove them for about 50000km all through central Europe and southern Scandinavia. Never had issues with them, both in the wet and in the snow.

Pros: no issues in wet/snow
Cons: lost grip on greasy surfaces
Vehicle: Honda
Mileage: 50000 km

Vredestein Tires

I have the wintrac pro on our GLE, think they’re a really good tire and will probably buy them again. They are also really good in the wet, didn’t have any surprising moments this winter, both in snowy/slushy and wet conditions.

Pros: really good tire, good in wet
Cons: none

I went with the Toyo Extensa HP II because it was a good compromise on price/efficiency/grip/noise. My biggest complaint with the OEM tires was that they hydroplaned worse than any tire I’ve had on a car since the 80s and these Toyos are much better. Range is down, maybe, 2-5%, maybe more on longer drives at speed, but EVERYTHING else about these tires is leagues better…ride, handling, noise, braking…everything.

Pros: better ride, handling, braking
Cons: range down 2-5%
Vehicle: Nissan Leaf

I have the Quatrac 5 on my wife's Civic. I feel like they're kind of noisy, but that's definitely the car's fault to some degree. Otherwise, they ride well and have great grip.

Pros: ride well, great grip
Cons: kind of noisy
Vehicle: Honda Civic

Toyos and Kumhos have served me well over tens of thousands of miles. Toyo Open Country AT3W and Kumho Crugen HT51. Michelins are known as the best tire for longevity and commuting.

Pros: served well, tens thousands miles

Toyo Tires

I don’t share the same disdain for them that everyone else on this sub though. Our CX-5+stock tires is still 10x quieter than the Honda Accord+Pirellis that it replaced.

Pros: 10x quieter

On our 2016 I had to ditch the Toyos at 19k because I drove down a gravel driveway and popped one when a piece of gravel went through them... They are so bad.

Cons: they are so bad
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 19000 km
