Tires Toyo or NITTO

Toyo Tires

I have been purchasing Toyo tires for some time now and really like them. I buy them for my truck though, MT and RT so they are large heavy tires. I buy them because they last and are tough.

Pros: last and tough

Toyo Proxes R1R is a cheaper option if the car isn't super heavy.

Pros: cheaper option
Cons: car isn't super heavy

NITTO Tires

Was at this overlanding event once and a guy was drilling into his Nitto spare to demonstrate how to plug.  He was getting a workout in somewhat cold weather trying to *drill* into his Nitto.

Pros: puncture resistant
Cons: hard to drill

NITTO Tires

I ran the Nittos on my Gladiator from day 1 to about 28k miles. Great tire, never had any issues or punctures. Survived Rubicon and the 7 hour drive back immediately after. Not the greatest in snow, but I've had worse in the past on other vehicles, lower air pressure can help this.

Pros: great tire, no issues
Cons: not greatest in snow
Vehicle: Jeep
Mileage: 28000 km

Toyo Tires

Another one here to recommend the Toyo at3’s. On my second set and they have held up nicely through all sorts of different terrain and conditions. They’re a strong tire with a 3ply sidewall and didn’t get any chunking after a weekend rock crawling in Sedona.

Pros: strong tire, held up nicely
Cons: none

Nitto neo gen seem to be the chosen stretch tires right now. I've got them on my FRS, but only a 215 over a 9"

Decent performance, wet isn't the best. But I havnt had any excessive wear issues or bubbling at about -4° squared.

Pros: decent performance
Cons: wet isn't the best

those toyos are widely regarded as poor tires, they ride quiet when they're new but very shortly they get loud and the grip is pretty bad and any sort of inclement weather even just rain.

Pros: quiet when new
Cons: loud, bad grip

It was a terrible experience on stock suspension: extremely stiff, sluggish from standstill, and my mpg took a drastic hit. On one tank I went from averaging about 16.8 mpg to 13.5.

I ended up getting them switched out for the C load tires (255/75r17) and had a MUCH better experience. They drive nearly identical to the stock tires , mpg is back to low 16, and the ride has softened up.

Pros: softer ride, mpg improved
Cons: stiff, sluggish, mpg drop
